$350 Framed Barry Michael Boxing Memorabilia

Proudly donated by Barry Michael the legend himself!

This was one of his most famous fights on Ash Wednesday Feb 16th 1983. His opponent Frank Ropis was the Australian Welterweight champion and Barry was the Australian lightweight champ. Ropis was unbeaten for 7 years prior to this fight. He was a heavy favourite to win, the fight was shown live on Channel 7 as Victoria burned. It was approximately 55 degrees under the ring lights and in a war that seesawed back and forth Barry finally landed a left hook near the end of round ten that left Ropis defenceless and tangled in the ropes as the bell saved him. They were both covered in blood from various injuries and Ropis’s corner through in the towel as the bell rang for the start of round eleven. Ropis was still on his feet as the towel signalled the end. Johny Famechon was referee.
