$350 Original Painting by John Duncan Firth
Proudly donated by Multi Award Winning Australian Artist ~ John Duncan Firth.
The image shown is the painting entitled “A little but often – Watering the horse” I painted this painting because of my one and only experience of nearly killing my horse “Pepper”. We had been up on top of the Bogong High Plains most of the day, I had let my horse drink, when it felt like it, most of the day. Upon arriving Bach at camp I was washing down my horse, with a bucket of water from the creek, when the horse made a beeline for the bucket of water, drinking as fast as it could, thinking it was thirsty I let it go.
That was my biggest mistake, next the horse was laid on the ground, writhing in agony. I was quickly informed, get that bloody! horse back on it’s feet and walk it! and keep walking it, until it starts to eat grass and I don’t care how long it takes.
Well I can tell you it took a long time, she eventfully started to peck at the grass. My inexperience had caused my horse to get colic, “It was a little but often” from that time on.
I hope this little story will help in selling the painting I have donated for this very good cause.
